Jorge Alonso Maldonado

Jorge Alonso Maldonado is an extraordinary pianist and composer. He has developed an outstanding career distinguished by magnificent compositions, amazing live performances and considerable respect of his industry peers.

Mr. Maldonado is well-known in his native Peru where he has performed and contributed to several of the country's most famous institutions and venues. In 2012, he gave an stunning concert with the band Big Pollo Funk at the Monumental Stadium (Estadio Monumental), opening for the five-time Latin Grammy Award winning rock band Molotov. In 2014, he was invited to perform at the US ambassador's residence for the Lima Jazz Festival. Additionally, in 2017 he was summoned by the former president of the Peruvian Congress Antero Flores Araoz, to perform a solo piano concert at the illustrious National Club (Club Nacional).

Leaving a blooming career in Peru, Jorge Maldonado set off to attend the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA where he was granted a merit-based scholarship. He soon began playing with some of the leading artists in the Boston music scene. Jorge performed at renowned venues such as the historic Wally's Jazz Cafe, at the acclaimed Festival Summer in the City and at the Major League Baseball star David "Big Papi" Ortiz's wine and cigar line release party. As a composer, he has composed music for international winning short films such as El Pescador and Bucket List and has collaborated with TV Hollywood composer Thomas Chase for a series of different film music projects.

Mr. Maldonado was recently selected to perform as a pianist and arranger for the multi-Grammy Award winning Peruvian singer Susana Baca, giving a sensational concert with a thirty-piece band at the Berklee Performance Center. Mr. Maldonado made arrangements for cajón (Peruvian traditional instrument) for multiple songs and played the piano for one of her most renowned interpreted pieces, Negra Presuntuosa. While completing his studies in Film Scoring, Mr. Maldonado was awarded the prominent Berklee Achievement Scholarship. He worked as a music tutor for three years at this institution. 

After graduation, Jorge Alonso moved to Washington DC where he keeps performing actively as well as composing for films and giving private music lessons.
