Portland Violin Teachers
Tanya Lannaccone is a working musician living in Portland. She teaches violin, piano and guitar and studied with Sona Hayden as part of her masters in piano studies at Washington University St. Louis. Tanya has performed extensively at the world famous blueberry hill and taught English in Munich through musical modalities.
Margaret Wehr is a multi-instrumentalist, teacher, performer and session musician originally from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She has been living in Portland and participating actively in the local music scene since 2010.
Ms. Wehr offers private, in-home instruction for all levels of experience in voice, piano and violin. With over two decades of experience on each instrument she has been teaching piano and voice for the past two years and violin for six. In addition to teaching she performs and tours with several local bands including Y La Bamba (synth and vocals) and Moorea Masa & the Mood (vocals).
Students under Ms. Wehr's instruction are encouraged to choose their own goals for learning their instrument and have a good deal of say in their overall lesson experience. Emphasis is placed on finding ways to enjoy music as both an intellectual challenge and emotionally expressive, often healing experience. Lesson time is intended to be empowering, exploratory and most importantly a source of self-discovery and joyful creativity for students of all levels.
