Philadelphia Area Clarinet Teachers
Michael Hudson-Casanova grew up in the Metro Detroit area and studied saxophone, flute and clarinet with several of the area’s most in-demand performers and instructors. He attended college at Western Michigan University and graduated with a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Saxophone and Music Education in December of 2016. While completing school, he was actively performing across Michigan in a variety of settings including small jazz ensembles, big bands, concert bands, and theatre productions. He also taught private students through one of Michigan’s most popular music stores and completed an internship at Northview Public Schools, where he instructed concert band, jazz band, and music theory classes for students in grades 4-12.
Recently, Michael moved to Philadelphia to pursue a Master of Music degree in Jazz Performance at Temple University. The strong music community in Philadelphia has given him opportunities to perform around the city and support to record his creative projects. Michael is gaining traction teaching and performing, and he has also become known for his writing and arranging. Michael has shared the stage with many jazz artists such as Joe Lovano, Billy Drewes, Randy Brecker, Fred Hersch and Miguel Zenon.
As a teacher, Michael values helping students build a positive relationship with music and their instrument. He teaches out of many method books and songbooks, but encourages his students to bring in music they enjoy the most because the best learning always takes place with excitement and personal interest. Michael’s diverse performance and education background allows him to teach many styles and genres, including whatever a student might be most attracted to in music.
Tyreese Pleasanton is a graduate of Lake Forest High School (2006) and Delaware State University (2015) with a degree in Music Performance. He is highly-motivated and energetic individual who has 12+ years of experience teaching music lessons. He has had the opportunity to participate in several ensembles including various marching bands, concert bands, woodwind quintets, and jazz ensembles. He has experience with solo work as well.
Tyreese was hired to perform with a professional orchestra for high school and college as well. He had the privilege to perform in pit orchestras for school musicals in high school and college. Tyreese's strong communication skills make him suited for diverse groups of musical learners. He is competent in playing a wide range of musical instruments. He is enthusiastic and thrives to transmit the passion of music to his students.
Tyreese has tutored primarily flute, clarinet, saxophone etc., (all woodwind instruments). Music is a challenging and fulfilling intellectual, physical, and emotional journey. It gives students opportunities for personal, moral, and social growth in addition to the basic skills of music instruction. Creating meaningful musical experiences gives students opportunities to grow and explore music in ways they would not on their own. Tyreese will always go above and beyond to make sure his students succeed by offering extra opportunities that will stretch and motivate them.
